The Islamic State of Iraq / News Brief for Southern Sector, Baghdad Province

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his companions in entirety.

This is the news brief for the military operations carried out by the Mujahideen of the Islamic State of Iraq (may Allah honor it) in Southern Sector, Baghdad province, during 01/08/2008 to 31/08/2008. All praise is due to Allah.

1- On 21/07/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at the deputy leader, called (Khaled Hassan) , of “Al-Mikanek” Awakening Councils in “Ad-Dowra” region, resulted in his immediate death and the destruction of his car .

2- On 01/08/2008 :Complete destruction of a US Hummer vehicle in “Al-Owaysat” region and killing all its passengers .

3- On 10/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a US Hummer vehicle in “Al-Eskandariyya” region . The hit was precise and on target .

4- On 04/08/2008: Destruction of a US Hummer vehicle and killing all its passengers in “Al- Owaysat” region . This is the second Hummer vehicle in the same region.

5- On 04/08/2008 : Breaking into the house of (Kadhm Jabbar), leader of the Awakening Council in “Karagol” region, then killing his assistant (Ibraheem Jabbar) , his son and two women – one of them worked in frisking women . This operation was reported by satellite channels .

6- On 02/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device implanted inside the house of (Naqeeb Fadhel), the one in charge of the National Guard’s checkpoints in the region between “Al- Qaed” river and “As- Sayed Abdullah” region in “Al-Yosofiyya”, . The operation resulted in the death of three of his bodyguards and his serious injury , and he is now in “Iben-Sina” hospital in the Green Zone .

7- On 06/08/2008 : Killing four elements of “Al-Mahaweel” region’s police reservists and injuring thirteen others after detonating an explosive device nearby “Al-Mahaweel” restaurant included in “Babel” province .

8- On 15/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a gathering of the apostate Awakening Councils in “Al-Yosofiyya” area - “Al-Fotooh” region , which resulted in the death or injury of many of them .

9- On 15/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a car belonging to the apostate Awakening Councils in “Al-Yosofiyya” area - “Al-Fotooh” region , which resulted in the loss of the legs of three of them – this happens for the second time- .

10- On 08/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a checkpoint for the apostate Awakening Councils in “31 Kilo” area -“Al-Latifiyya” region , resulted in the death of one of them and the loss of another's arm and leg .

11- On 07/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a car for a leader in the apostate Awakening Councils in “31 Kilo” region, included in “Al-Latifiyya” region , which resulted in the destruction of it .

12- On 07/08/2008 : Setting up an ambush for the elements of the Awakening Councils ,in “Kurtan” region included in “Al-Yosofiyya” region, by detonating an explosive device at them-as a start-, which killed one of them , and after they had gathered, a martyrdom-seeking brother attacked them , but they could discover him , and he was the one implanted the explosive device before . Then the elements of the Awakening Councils broke into his house , however he refused to surrender to them and preferred death , so he attacked their gathering and exploded his explosive belt at them to injure a number of them .

13- Very Important : ( Muslim Families in “Al-Karaghool” Region Call for Help)
The one called (Mohammed Abdulla Saleh) forced five families to leave their homes . He did that with the help of the leader of “Al-Karaghool” region’s Awakening Councils (Kadhem Jabbar) , who escaped an assassination attempt at which he lost his brother ( his assistant) , son and daughter, and with the help of the National Guards ( Squad 17 – Fourth Brigade ) . They did so under the pre**** of supporting the Mujahideen, and they didn't allow them to take any of their belongings with them, just the clothes they were wearing . All that happened before the agent Awakening Councils' and the Shiite government' eyes . Also, the spiteful Shiite (Abood Qanbar), leader of Baghdad operations, visited the area but he did nothing to help those homeless families, rather he admitted that he was the one who gave orders to make the families displaced!

14- Breaking into many checkpoints in “Al-Qaderiyya” - “Al-Eakandariyya” region and attacking them with mortars and BKC weapons . Losses were unknown .

15- On 03/08/2008 :Breaking into the house of one of the Awakening CouncilS’ leaders called (Shaykh Majed Ahmad) in “Al-Eakandariyya” region , he escaped from the house which was burned along with his car.

16- On 17/08/2008 : Assassinating an apostate working in “Abo-Ghareeb” police station .

17- On 22/08/2008 : Complete destruction of a US Hummer vehicle and killing all its passengers in “Al-Owaysat” region .

18- On 15/08/2008 : Kidnapping an element of Al-Mahdi Army then killing him in “Al-Akeer” region, included in “Jabalah” side .

19- On 18/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a US patrol in the in “Al-Akeer” region, included in “Jabalah” side , but it didn't cause any damage to their vehicles .

20- On 29/08/2008 : Detonating an explosive device at a car for the apostate "Karrar", the Captain in “Al-Haswa” region’s police , resulted in the immediate death of him and of a policeman who was with him in the car .

These operations are part of al-Karama (The Dignity) Plan, which was declared by Ameer Al-Mu’meneen Sheikh Abu Omar al-Baghdadi (may Allah protect him), leader of the Islamic State of Iraq.
